What that means in practice: TikTok Shop already collects a W-9 from US creators and reports your commission earnings to the IRS on a Form 1099 once you cross the federal reporting threshold. Before we pay a bonus directly, we ask you for a completed W-9 as well, and we issue a 1099 where the IRS requires it. You're responsible for reporting this income on your tax return, including self-employment tax where it applies.
